Tit-for-tat puppy scarf

My sister is pretty good at nail art… I am not. But I wanted something a bit fancy for Christmas this year and asked if she would give me a festive manicure… she said yes providing I would whip her up a quick puppy scarf.

She had found a spotted cotton pretty cheap and brought it over with her nail kit. She wanted a cute little scarf for her new Border Collie puppy, and another bigger one for when the puppy was no longer a puppy. Ok, I can work this out…

It was laid out on the floor and I folded over a triangle and pinned the two sides together (making sure I didn’t pin it to the carpet), cut along the edges, and also cut a smaller flatter triangle from the leftovers.

I just stitched up the sides near the edge… no seam allowances means I can make up my own rules!! I left a small gap, flipped the whole thing right side out through said gap, then stitched over the hole. Ironed it all flat and Bob’s your uncle… dog kerchief. The smaller triangle I just hemmed as it was easier…

So this is Becky pup, with the mini version of the scarf on… turns out she thought it was tasty and the edges kind of look like this now…

Ha ha… it looks slightly scruffy, just like her (I really think the hair on her ears gives her a permanently startled look). And what did I get in this tit-for-tat exchange?

Christmas nails!! Now that’s us using each other’s talents very effectively!!
